Designing with Intention at The Rosenblum Room
The Rosenblum Room is redefining how we think about home decor in Downtown Hammond.
On November 22, a new kind of magic opened its doors in Downtown Hammond. The Rosenblum Room, owned by Lacey Yarbrough and Ashley Hines, is more than a home décor store — it’s an experience rooted in intention, creativity, and atmosphere. Though Lacey lives in Kentwood and Ashley in Amite, Hammond has always felt like home base. Lacey attended Southeastern Louisiana University, both women have children attending school in Hammond, and it’s where they already came for everyday life. Add in Ashley’s love for Downtown Hammond’s culture, including the walkability, Luma Coffee, and the Farmers Market, then choosing this location felt natural. “This is the community we want to be a part of,” they share, and from the moment The Rosenblum Room opened, it was clear the feeling was mutual. The shop fits seamlessly into downtown, inviting passersby inside with warmth and sparkle.
Interior design has always been a passion for Lacey. Her Pinterest boards are filled with years of inspiration, and the dream of opening a décor shop had been quietly growing for a long time. When she shared the idea with Ashley, the response was immediate: I’d love to help. That balance defines their partnership. Ashley handles much of the business and behind-the-scenes work, while Lacey curates inventory, styles the space, and plans the floor layout. Together, they complement each other effortlessly, creating a store that feels both thoughtfully run and deeply personal.
Keeping the name The Rosenblum Room was intentional. Located inside the historic Rosenblum Building, Lacey and Ashley wanted to honor the legacy of the former retail store that once occupied the space. This building served as the original location of Rosenblum’s clothing store in the 1950s, owned by Sidney and Andree Rosenblum. In the 1960s, Rosenblum’s Department Store expanded one block down, where the Hammond Branch Library now stands. For decades, Rosenblum’s provided clothing, shoes, makeup, and more to families throughout the surrounding area, becoming a cornerstone of downtown retail life. There is something powerful about seeing the large historic ROSENBLUM’S sign still displayed on the building, walking up to a door adorned with a gold-gilded The Rosenblum Room decal, and stepping inside a space filled with magic. It feels like entering a dream that imagines what your home could be, with Lacey and Ashley behind the counter ready to help bring that vision to life.
Ask them their favorite items in the store, and you’ll get an enthusiastic list: chic clutches, tortoiseshell barware, oversized ornaments, and battery-operated candles. Lacey admits her own home is filled with candlelight, loving the ambiance they create year-round. During the holidays, though, she prefers real candles for centerpieces, wax mess and all. There’s something magical about seeing your family in a candle-lit glow. Lacey says it’s a moment she cherishes. Both women love decorating for Christmas, though Lacey also has a soft spot for Autumn and Halloween and is already looking forward to next year, when she can expand those seasonal collections even more.
Their decorating advice is refreshingly approachable. Lacey suggests that simply changing your lighting by adding battery-operated candles or a statement candelabra can completely transform a space. Ashley emphasizes intention. “Don’t rush to fill your home with art and pieces from chain stores,” she says. “Everyone’s houses would look the same.” Take your time. Find what’s you. Right now, they’re loving oversized candelabras, faux greenery, nostalgic textures, and the simple act of turning off overhead lighting.
When customers walk in, Lacey wants them to feel inspired, while Ashley wants them to feel comfortable. The result is a shop that feels less like a store and more like someone’s living room and dining room, cozy, layered, and welcoming. Everything you see is for sale, even the styled displays, and customers are encouraged to explore, touch, and imagine these pieces in their own homes.
Expansion is already on the horizon. The Rosenblum Building is much larger than the space currently in use, and in the coming months Lacey and Ashley plan to grow into the rest of it. Future offerings include furniture, art, jewelry, wallpaper, fine china, additional glassware, and even children’s toys. They also dream of hosting bridal registries, helping couples build intentional homes from the very beginning. Whether you need help choosing a gift, refreshing a room, or calling in for them to select something on your behalf, they are happy to help.
Their approach has been smart and deliberate. Rather than burning themselves out by filling the entire building immediately, they started small, and it paid off. The Rosenblum Room is rarely empty, always evolving, and constantly offering something new. Lacey is also happy to provide interior design guidance, even reviewing photos of your home to help you make thoughtful choices. Wallpaper, one of her great loves, is something she is especially excited to bring back in a big way.
The Rosenblum Room isn’t a Christmas shop. It is a year-round destination with new collections arriving all the time. Spring is already on the way, promising fresh blooms and beauty. In many ways, Lacey and Ashley are artists. Through their styling and floor displays, they show customers what’s possible. They are firm believers in shopping local, where customer service is personal and unmatched. At its heart, The Rosenblum Room is about care, care for your home, for your community, and for the idea that your space should feel safe, beautiful, and uniquely yours.
