Louisiana’s First Monster Mini Golf Opens in Downtown Hammond

Whether you're six or sixty, Monster Mini Golf is ready to welcome you for a day (or night) of glowing fun. We’re thrilled to have them here in Downtown Hammond—and we’ll see you on the course.

Downtown Hammond’s newest attraction, Monster Mini Golf, opened on May 10th under the ownership of Northshore local Brian Estep, bringing a glow-in-the-dark world of fun to families across the region. Located entirely indoors and glowing with black light, laughter, and nostalgia, Monster Mini Golf brings a fresh, family-friendly experience to Downtown Hammond—and marks the arrival of the first Monster Mini Golf location in Louisiana.

Brian Estep’s journey to opening this entertainment hub is rooted in family. After a successful career in technology and owning his own software business, Brian decided to make a big change. His job was causing him to spend less time with his family and Monster Mini Golf became a way for him to do business while honoring his loved ones. Alongside his wife, Stacey, and their family of seven children, Brian took the leap into family entertainment—turning a longtime dream into a glowing reality.

Monster Mini Golf isn’t your average arcade. It’s a fully immersive experience:

  • 18 holes of glow-in-the-dark mini golf

  • Laser Tag Arena

  • Virtual Reality battles

  • Laser Maze Challenge

  • Fly’n Ducks mini bowling (4 lanes!)

  • A 70-station arcade

  • Concessions with pizza, slushies, and more

  • Haunted Mansion-themed party rooms

Every square inch of the space is glowing with character—literally. The walls are covered in hand-painted, blacklight-reactive murals, many of which include inside jokes and references to Louisiana laws, Hammond history, and Southeastern Louisiana University. Keep your eyes peeled for a monster wielding a laser and a cop writing him a ticket—it’s a nod to the real Louisiana law that prohibits pointing lasers at police officers. The details are clever, fun, and uniquely local.

Don’t worry—this is spooky fun, not spooky scary. The monsters at Monster Mini Golf are here to entertain, not terrify. One of the fan favorites? A larger-than-life ogre that lets out a dramatic fart—complete with a puff of fog and a belly laugh. The whole course is filled with playful characters like cackling witches, glowing tombstones, and silly surprises around every turn. If your kids love The Haunted Mansion, Nightmare Before Christmas, or Coraline, they’ll feel right at home. And if you grew up watching Aaahh!!! Real Monsters or Courage the Cowardly Dog, this one’s for you, too.

Monster Mini Golf is a place designed to let kids and parents be kids together. There’s no alcohol on-site, and staff encourage families to stay and play as a group. Whether you're celebrating a birthday, planning a rainy-day outing, or just looking for a new way to spend quality time, this is a third space worth adding to your rotation—somewhere outside of work, home, and school where memories can be made.

Brian believes in the power of shared joy. Monster Mini Golf is a celebration of childhood, family, and imagination. Brian wanted to build a place where families can play together—and keep coming back.
