Stable & Coop Celebrates One Year in Downtown Hammond

Amanda Pace, owner and matriarch of Stable & Coop, has created something truly special in Downtown Hammond.

Located at 109 S. Cate Street inside a pastel pink building, Stable & Coop is part vintage shop, part community gathering space, and part fantasy world. This Saturday, June 13th, 2026, Amanda will celebrate one year of bringing her vision to life in downtown Hammond.

Amanda's journey into vintage fashion began long before Stable & Coop. Fifteen years ago, she launched Lucky Duck, an online business specializing in vintage children's clothing. Her own children were always dressed in vintage pieces and, as they outgrew them, Amanda would sell those treasures online. The business flourished, but Amanda's first love had always been women's vintage fashion.

She has been wearing and collecting vintage clothing since high school. Growing up in North Louisiana and Texas during the late '90s and early 2000s, she'd take her school clothes allowance and stretch it as far as possible at local thrift stores.

"I wanted more," Amanda explained.

Vintage offered something the mall couldn't. Old band tees, baseball jerseys, one-of-a-kind pieces she could cut apart, reconstruct, and make entirely her own. As a skilled seamstress, Amanda still creates original pieces today, many of which can be found throughout Stable & Coop.

Eventually, Lucky Duck evolved into Stable & Coop. Amanda wanted more than a storefront. She dreamed of creating a third place, somewhere outside of home and work where women could gather, connect, and simply exist together. Though she was advised against pursuing the idea, Amanda decided to do it anyway. Stable & Coop became a reality.

Today, Amanda spends her days hyping up customers, helping women discover new styles, and encouraging them to feel beautiful and confident in what they wear.

Community has always been at the center of Amanda's vision. Stable & Coop is more than a place to shop. It's a place to learn how to sew, receive tarot readings, attend crochet and embroidery classes, play dress-up, or settle into the sitting room filled with books and natural light.

Walking into Stable & Coop feels like stepping into your high school best friend's bedroom. There's a closet full of clothes to try on, golden candleholders, cherub statues, trailing ivy, jewelry boxes, soft lighting, and the lingering scent of incense. It's an ode to another time. If you could bottle the feeling of getting ready at your friend's house before a school dance in the 1990s, with Portishead playing in the background, it might feel something like this. In the future, Amanda hopes to host slumber party nights, continuing to build the sense of nostalgia and connection that defines the space.

Amanda describes Stable & Coop's aesthetic as romantic feminine, but it's also a form of escapism. A carefully curated fantasy world where Amanda reigns as queen.

One customer recently described the store as "Peter Pan's Neverland, but for women."

The name Stable & Coop itself reflects Amanda's journey. It serves as an ode to the stability she spent much of her life searching for and has now been able to build for herself, her family, and her community. Amanda hopes that legacy extends beyond clothing.

She currently offers private sewing lessons and dreams of expanding into larger classes if she can acquire more equipment. If you have an old sewing machine collecting dust, Amanda would happily give it new life. Other instructors already host crochet and embroidery workshops in the space, and Amanda's own father will soon lead a creative writing class. Her hope is to continue growing Stable & Coop into a hub for creativity and community.

Of course, no visit to Stable & Coop would be complete without meeting its newest employee. Duchess Louisa, a calico cat who may very well be a fae creature in disguise, spends her days napping in the storefront window and charming shoppers into stepping inside. Affectionate and endlessly curious, Duchess is known to accompany visitors throughout their entire shopping experience.

After one year in Downtown Hammond, Stable & Coop has become far more than a vintage store. It is a gathering place. A creative space. A reminder that community can be built intentionally and beautifully. And now it's time to celebrate!

Join Amanda and the Stable & Coop community this Saturday, June 13th, from 6 to 9 p.m., for "Divine Madness: A Most Curious Celebration." The evening will feature prizes for the most divine ensemble, a raffle of curious treasures, mocktails and petite bites, dancing, high tea, and unexpected delights throughout the evening.

Stable & Coop is located at 109 S. Cate Street in Downtown Hammond.

One year through the gate, and everyone belongs here.
