Arts Center Announces Final Exhibitions of 2025 Calendar
Hammond, La—This November and December, the Hammond Regional Arts Center (HRAC) will host the “Art Educators as Artists” exhibition, an open show featuring artwork by thirty-six art educators from Louisiana. The opening reception in the HRAC Main Gallery will take place on Friday, November 14, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The public is invited to the gallery to view the works by art educators from November 14 through December 18, 2025.
“The “Art Educator as Artists” exhibition is an opportunity for us to bring a spotlight to these professionals who work tirelessly to teach and inspire youth, but who also have talents and aspirations outside of their classrooms,” said HRAC Executive Director Melissa Griffin.
While many of the featured artists belong to the Louisiana Art Educators Association, the Hammond Regional Arts Center has also extended the invitation to arts educators from acrossthe state.
“Our hope is an eclectic collection, exhibiting and celebrating the diversity of a community of artists who are educators,” said Griffin.
Simultaneously in the HRAC Mezzanine, located upstairs in their facility at 217 E. Thomas Street, a solo exhibition, “Bluesiana” by artist Anne McLeod Anderson will be on display.Anderson’s exhibit will also open with a reception on Friday, November 14, from 5 p.m. to 8p.m. and will remain on display through December 18.
Anne McLeod Anderson is a celebrated abstract-landscape painter whose work is self-describedas layered and minimalistic. Fittingly, Anderson has also worked as an educator before pursuing her craft full time starting in 2018. Her work has been shown in Lafayette, Jackson, Destin, Atlanta, and Ariodante Gallery in New Orleans. Her work can be seen in set designs for the locally produced series NCIS: New Orleans and on the HBO series Treme. All artworks, unless specified to the contrary, will be available for purchase during the two exhibitions from November 14 to December 18, 2025.
